Over the past few months, my school has been putting on a production of The Wiz; a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, which paints the story of a young girl, Dorthy, along with four friends, Scarecrow, Tin-Man, and Lion, who she meets along the way as they venture down the yellow brick road to find the wizard that resides in Emerald City in hopes that he may be able to help Dorthy get back home to Kansas.
As opening night comes closer and closer, it gives us all time to think about where we started versus where we are today.
One thing I know for certain is that i’m glad I had the opportunity to be a part of the show because of the lessons it has taught me.
Sometimes when things get difficult, I think about the fun that I have when practicing or just hanging with the Four Friends because that’s what we truly are. These are people I hope to stay in touch with as I get older. And maybe, they find a home in one another as I do because home is somewhere you should always be able to return to, even if you can’t stay for too long.
This story shows you to always respect family, because Dorthy wanted to leave home but after that she wanted to come back.
