How to recycle a song properly

22icastro5

As I start writing more and more songs that finally progress the story of my musical, I have decided to take a bit of breather on the next song, which is a love song. Today I won't be able to present it, but rather today, I can present to you an idea. Take a listen to these songs and think about why I chose to compare these songs.

I chose these songs because If you listen to them, the bass line of these two songs are the same. Now it may be hard to even notice without pointing this out, and that's because they're, at heart, two different songs.

There are many other songs that share this recycling method, such as most rocks song that have a nice Canon in D vibes. Here are a few examples.

My point is, sometimes you can get inspiration in others. I took one of my old songs I wrote at the beginning of last year, and even though I thought the song wasn't what I wanted, I finally found use for it. My hope one day is to not only write a good song out of my old one, but to one day write a progression that people find inspiration in. Music is about creating something that makes you feel good, but I want to not only do that, but innovate.

It's nice how you managed to find a small detail within both songs
